Olivia Palermo For Ciaté | Pretty Palettes & Impressive Formulations

I’m normally a bit sceptical when brands start to move outside their comfort zone. It’s a terrible thing to say, but I sometimes think that brands should stay in their comfort zone. However, in reality beauty brands are incredibly good at innovating and trying new things. More often than not, they are listening to the beauty community and creating the products they love.

Last year Ciaté started to move into the realms of makeup. First of all they created their original line up, based on innovative ideas and bright colours. Later they announced the Olivia Palermo collection and it was something I just couldn’t resist. I don’t think anyone can deny that they absolutely nailed the packaging; it’s sleeker and more chic than the original line. The compacts have been coated in a leather effect and the line is finished with the prettiest embossing. It’s the type of thing that makes my heart do a little flutter!

The first thing from the collection that I bought was the Smokey Suedes Eyeshadow Palette. The palette has nine different shades that Ciaté say are inspired by different types of fabric. They are a beautiful suede-inspired texture, which means they feel buttery to the touch. They are incredibly pigmented and they blend with ease, they also have very little fallout – all the things that ultimately win me over. There’s a mixture of matte shades and pearl shades, all in a variety of different colours; which means you have a palette that creates a variety of looks.

The second thing I picked up was the Cheekbone Cheat Blusher Bronzer Duo, which I picked up in the shade ‘Bluff Point’. This is a beautiful round compact, which has been split in two; one blusher and one bronzer. It’s actually the ultimate travel product, it would be great to chuck into your handbag! Both sides of the compact are incredibly pigmented, you really only need a light hand with this. Although the shades are pigmented, they are still a good match for my fair skin, I don’t feel overloaded with colour or too “done up”. The powders are enriched with bamboo, which is good for oil-control, it’s lightweight on the skin and you don’t feel cakey in the slightest.

All-in-all these are two really great products; they feel luxurious and they look gorgeous sat on my dressing table. It’s taught be not to be so judgemental and just to give things a go every now and then!
