Four Reasons I Love Afternoon Tea | The BuyAGift Teamoji Petition

In case you didn’t know, this week is officially Afternoon Tea Week - I know right, it has its very own week! Those who know me (or follow me) all know that Afternoon Tea is quite frankly one of my favourite things. This post was created in collaboration with BuyAGift, who many of you know are one of my favourite brands. They’ve just started a petition to create a tea cup emoji, which is very much missing in the world, you can learn more about this here. It inspired me to write about my love for Afternoon Tea – I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wanted a tea emoji on Instagram! So today I’m sharing four reasons I love Afternoon Tea and why I think you need to try it!

The locations
One thing I love about Afternoon Tea is the variety of different locations, which really encourages you to get out and see a different part of the country! Some of my favourite locations include The Luton Hoo, where the tea is set in their grand ballroom. There is also the Sanderson Hotel, where you can dine in their beautiful garden, or the Macdonald Hotel in Marlow, which let’s dine next to the river! You can even have Afternoon Tea on a London Bus, or even on a boat on The River Thames – honestly, once you delve into the options, you’ll find it hard to pick!

Different themes
Whilst you can’t beat the classic Afternoon Tea, I personally love trying something a little bit different. Some brands have really gone to town by bringing an Afternoon Tea theme to life and it’s really impressive to see! The Hilton Hotel on Park Lane are always quick to try a theme, whether it’s Mothers Day, Valentines Day, Easter or Christmas – they often have you covered. If you’re a film buff – you could try the Sanderson’s Mad Hatter's Tea Party, or even try the Beauty and the Beast themed tea. If you’re into fashion, chocolate or makeup there’s sure to be a theme for you! Some brands have even created Gentleman’s Afternoon Tea, which includes beer and scotch eggs!

Trying different teas
The average Brit consumes 3 cups of tea a day, yet if you’re anything like me, your tea cupboard isn’t that exotic! Sure, I have English Breakfast and a couple of mint teas, but it’s rare that I experiment much further in the supermarket. One thing I love about Afternoon Tea is that you get to try something a little bit different. For example, I discovered the Queen Of Hearts tea at the Sanderson’s Mad Hatter's tea party and I discovered Twinings Nutty Chocolate Tea at the Chocoholic Afternoon Tea at the Hilton on Park Lane

Did I mention cake?
I couldn’t finish this blog post without mentioning cake! Sure, I love the sandwiches – which actually get pretty elaborate, but for me it’s all about the sweets. Nothing beats a fresh, warm scone, which has been effortlessly topped with loads of clotted cream. However, when you chuck in a little chocolate cake, a Victoria sponge, or a couple of macarons – I’m literally in heaven!

I’m totally on board with BuyAGift’s campaign to create a tea emoji, as me and my tea loving friend always complain that one is missing! More than six billion emoji’s are sent around the world everyday and I think it’s a shame that tea is missing out on that action! I highly recommend signing the petition and I highly recommend checking out BuyAGift for awesome Afternoon Tea offers.
