The Soft Luxe Collection by Tanya Burr

Let's be honest, Tanya Burr really needs no introduction, especially in this community. Since creating her YouTube channel in 2009, Tanya’s influence has gone from strength to strength. Her social media following is astronomical, so it's no surprise that when she launches something new it's almost guaranteed success. Whenever I nip into a Superdrug store, I never fail to see teenagers flocked around her makeup stands, counting their pennies to add her products to their growing makeup collections.

Tanya Burr's makeup line first appeared in 2014, sporting a line of nail polishes and lipglosses. It was a basic collection, which sported very basic packaging, yet it still was really successful. In August 2015, Tanya announced that her makeup line was getting a revamp. The collection was quite literally given a lick of paint and the packaging was brought into the 21st Century. Since then Tanya has had more successful collections, including a holiday collection which was pretty hard to get hold of. Now her latest collection is here and The Tanya Burr Cosmetics Soft Luxe Collection* is all about minimalism.

Released earlier this year for Spring, the collection features two new eyeshadow palettes plus a line of matte lip colours and matte nail polishes.

As I mentioned earlier, the new Soft Luxe Collection by Tanya Burr features three new lip products. Before now Tanya Burr's collections have only featured a range of a lipgloss shades. The new shades are much more of liquid lipstick, offering high pigmentation, long-lasting wear and a matte finish. The Matte Lip shades include Martha Moo, Puppy Paws* (pictured above) and Rhubarb and Custard. They are packaged in the classic Tanya Burr square tube, with a doe foot applicator.

Let's talk eyeshadow! I've tested the lip and nail products from Tanya Burr in the past, but the eyeshadows is a new territory for me. The new collection features two new Eye Palettes; ‘Birthday Suit’ and ‘Enchanted Dream’. I've been playing with Enchanted Dream* which comes in a large cardboard box. I'd say that the packaging really is aimed at the younger market, it's incredibly pretty, finished with a metallic sheen and covered in hearts and stars. When you open the lid you find a large heart-shaped mirror and four different shadows, which have been embossed with stars, which I think is a nice touch.

The Birthday Suit palette gives you everything you need for a quick and easy everyday eye. There are four shades; Moonlit Walk (a champagne shade), Cocoa Plum (a glittery brown), Berry Souffle (a matte plum shade) and Magic Carpet (a dark, matte brown/purple hue). I would describe the shades by saying they have a medium amount of pigment - not too little and not too much. I actually found the amount of pigmentation easy to work with, I could build up the colour until I was completely happy. There was a small amount of fallout on my cheeks when I used 'Berry Souffle' but the rest of them performed really well.

Last but not least we have the Tanya Burr Matte Nail Polishes, which come in three shades; New Chapter, Piggy Bank* (pictured above) and Soft Pyjamas. The polishes all come in the now classic Tanya Burr nail polish packaging; a rectangle bottle finished with a gold lid and gold lettering. As you'd expect, Piggy Bank is a soft pink shade, which is actually incredibly pigmented, you could probably get away with one coat!

The makeup collections released by Tanya Burr are incredibly cheap to buy. The nail polishes retail for £4.99, the Matte Lip shades retail for £5.99 and the eyeshadow palettes retail for £6. So whilst avid makeup fans might spot some room for improvement, can you really complain at this price point? When you consider the price point and the target market, I actually think these products are really nice. A lot of Tanya Burr fans and makeup newbies will enjoy using them! You can pick up the whole collection now from Superdrug.
